News from the writing world and what's coming next

It's September!

It’s FALL! Time for the shift to Miami and more hot weather and rain! YAY!!!

PUBLISHING JAN 2026 - ARCS OPEN NOV 2025
I'm so excited to announce that my second book, and book #2 in the Lee Danforth Suspense Series, is slated to be published in January 2026!

In Forever Gone, Lee Danforth ventures outside of her career comfort zone for the first time–reluctantly taking on a criminal case to uncover a child trafficking ring. But in Malevolent Intent... Lee is thrown into the fire with an unsolved murder, a killer on the loose, a newly discharged military client with PTSD, his missing family, and insurmountable odds working against them.

Oh, and did I mention her client is devilishly handsome? Will Lee risk an impulsive romance with her married client, or will she resist the mutual temptation? What about her past feelings for Mac? For readers who cared about Lee's (basically non-existent) love life in Forever Gone, you'll appreciate seeing a little more of it in Malevolent Intent.

Life Update: Preparing to leave the farm in Türkiye + Drafting more books!
It’s finally fall here on the farm with cool mornings and evenings, and the tops of the trees beginning to turn. There will be one month of heavy fall work—planting and seeding—to prepare for spring.

Our baby guinea hens have been released to free range, and it is delightful to see the army of them march across the farm as they hunt for food. All dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens have learned to coexist, and the rescue horses are finally comfortable with each other and open to roaming the farm.

Fall also means a shift back to Miami for us, and heavy drafting of new material for me while my husband sails. Drafts of new books in both the domestic and international thriller series are scheduled, as well as the completion of an unusual project that I’ve been working on intermittently (more on that later).

With Malevolent Intent in its final stages, get ready for Lee’s team as they work to rid Charleston of another nasty character. I hope you’ll enjoy Lee’s shift to working with Mac as she finally begins to settle emotionally after the death of Jack Marshall.

Chocolat is finally beginning to gain a little weight. It may take us two years before he fills out again into the racehorse he used to be. He’s a sweetie, and he loves Caramel.

🧿 AMA ANSWERS 🧿

Last month, I opened up an "ask me anything" in my newsletter with a promise to share some answered questions in September. Here are my answers to a few received. Thanks for participating!

Q: What's your personal word count record from a writing session?

A: 5,000 words. Usually, I write 2,500 words each writing day. That doesn’t mean that I write every day. Some days, it just isn’t possible, given life on the farm.

Q: Is there anything you're afraid to write about?

A: Nope. I have a lot of stories in my Scrivener drafts, including some unusual ones. I plan to release something different in the thriller genre later next year.

Q: Would you ever permanently move out of the US to Türkiye?

A: Possibly. More likely is a partial move to a third country to split time three ways, but I cannot predict the future! I like traveling and there is still much of the world that I want to see.
